Board standing committees are set up to assist the Vancouver Police Board (the Board) in carrying out its work. Standing committees are made up of Board directors.
The Board decides the mandate of each standing committee. The standing committees then make recommendations to the Board. Standing committees do not make decisions on behalf of the Board unless the Board has specifically authorized them to do so.

The terms of reference for each committee define the role and responsibilities of each committee and are set out separately. The Governance Manual outlines the key guidelines governing how all committees will operate to carry out their duties of stewardship and accountability.
