In the past decade or more, there has been a strong societal shift that has put a spotlight on the value of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in all aspects of our lives – and this includes at the Vancouver Police Board (the Board).
The Vancouver Police Board is the independent civilian oversight body of the Vancouver Police Department.
There has been a great deal of public discussion around the Board’s request for a Director’s review of Vancouver City Council’s decision to reduce the Vancouver Police Department’s (VPD) 2021 budget as submitted by the Board and Director Rideout’s subsequent independent decision to reinstate the deficit.
